Welcome to Humanity in Music

We appreciate your support!

This year, we're working on a very important cause. We're hosting 'Sound of Giving', a benefit concert, at Palmerston Public Library Theatre on Friday, December 8th, at 7:PM to help with the needs of Spadina Fort York Community Care Foodbank.

Humanity in Music would like to underpin the ambitions of an active program that affects the lives of low-income individuals, and families who are disproportionally impacted economically by the pandemic. We hope that with your help, we can strengthen the measure of the effectiveness of the food bank. Our mission is to raise $10,000 through ticket sales and donations. This goal can only be a success through you!

Thank you so much for lending your support in any way you can.

You can donate on Eventbrite, there is an option under tickets. You can purchase tickets for yourself and/or someone else on the Eventbrite as a donation. A message from Spadina Fort York Community Care Foodbank

Please help us raise funds and awareness through Sound of Giving. All proceeds will go towards sustaining and improving our services at Spadina Fort York Community Care Foodbank. We are located behind the St. Lawrence Market at 125 The Esplanade, Toronto, Ontario. On Saturdays from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. We serve food to individuals, and families with food insecurities from different communities, backgrounds, and challenges; including clients with young children, mobility, and mental disabilities, and dietary restrictions.

Shauna Harris, our Founder and her amazing volunteer team, organizes food rescues, purchases, donations, pick-ups, and deliveries, among many other responsibilities. She is always working hard towards the success and continuation of our program.

People at the foodbank call me J, and I have been the Volunteer Program Coordinator at SPAFYCC for almost two years. I organize a crew of up to 30 invaluable volunteers who help to pick up, offload, set up, and distribute the food to our clients.

We're always in need of volunteers and donations. I know firsthand that the need for awareness, and support is greater than our capacity. Food insecurity does not discriminate, especially in our current post-pandemic state. The families that come early in the day to line up for hours regardless of environmental challenges are an extreme reminder of the importance of our commitment, and everyone's support. Since being involved with the foodbank, I've met fellow Canadians who are surviving below the poverty line with other challenges beyond our scope, so I know the need personally. We are leading this cause through experience. We know what it will take to make a difference, and we’re hoping to inspire others to get involved in any way possible.
